What we store, in full

Short version: your play never leaves your own browser. There are no accounts, no analytics scripts, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. The detail below is the whole of it.

No payments

Nothing on this site can be bought, so we never handle card numbers, billing addresses or payment data. Coins are free virtual tokens with no monetary value.

01 / Who we are

Who is responsible for this site

Fern Reel Guide is an independent free-to-play games site published from New Zealand at fernreelguide.com. Questions about anything on this page go to hello@fernreelguide.com.

We do not collect personal information

There is no sign-up form, no login, no newsletter and no profile. We do not ask for your name, email address, date of birth, phone number or location, and no page on this site sends anything about your play to us or to anyone else. No analytics package is installed — not Google Analytics, not a self-hosted alternative, nothing that counts visits.

We do not run advertising, so no ad network, tracking pixel, social widget or fingerprinting script is present on any page. Nothing here builds a profile of you, and there is no data to sell even if we wanted to.

What your browser keeps

Your progress needs somewhere to live, and that somewhere is your own device. The site writes two entries into your browser's local storage and reads them back on your next visit. They stay on your device and are never transmitted.

Local storage used by this site
Key What it holds How long
frg.play.v1 Your coin balance, your highest balance so far, the date of your last daily top-up, the date of your first visit, and per-game counts such as rounds played, best banked run and cards sent to a vent. Until you clear it
frg.notice.v1 A single flag recording that you dismissed the storage notice, so it stops reappearing. Until you clear it

Those dates are the only timestamps kept. Nothing records how long you played, what time of day you visited or which pages you read. If local storage is unavailable — private browsing on some devices, or storage switched off — the games still run for the session and simply forget everything afterwards.

No cookies

This site sets no cookies at all: no session cookies, no preference cookies, no third-party cookies. The notice bar you may have dismissed is about local storage rather than cookies, and the cookie policy explains that distinction in more detail.

The one third party involved

Someone's server has to answer the request, and in our case that is Vercel's static hosting platform. Like any web server it processes the request itself: your IP address, the page you asked for, your browser's user-agent string and the time. That is ordinary server operation, we do not use it to identify anyone, and it holds nothing about your coin balance or your games.

Beyond that, your browser talks to nobody. Every file a page needs — the stylesheet, the script, the illustrations and all three typefaces — is served from this domain, so no font service, content network or image host sees your visit. There are no embedded videos, no maps, no comment system, no chat widget and no social buttons.

Children

This site is for adults aged 18 and over and is not directed at children. We knowingly collect nothing from anyone, of any age, because we collect nothing at all. If you look after a young person's device, standard parental controls are the practical way to keep casino-style games off it.

Deleting everything

Clearing this site's data in your browser removes both storage entries and returns you to a first visit: 10,000 coins and an empty record sheet. In most desktop browsers the control sits under site settings for the page you are on; on phones it is usually within the browser's privacy or storage settings. Your records page also has a button that clears the game history on its own and keeps your balance.

Because nothing is stored on our side, there is no request to make of us and nothing for us to erase. Any email you send us is a separate matter, and that is covered on the contact page.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask an organisation what personal information it holds about you and have it corrected. Our honest answer is that we hold none: no identifiers, no contact details and no play data, unless you have emailed us, in which case the only record is that email. You are welcome to ask, and that will be the reply.

Changes to this policy

If the site ever changes what it stores, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated. We will not add analytics, advertising or tracking without saying so here first — and adding them would contradict the point of the site.
